What we mean by mindful activities
Mindfulness is the practice of being fully aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the present moment — without interpretation or judgement. Practices we guide include:
- Guided breathing and grounding techniques.
- Sensory walks, beach walks and nature time.
- Gentle movement, stretching and yoga-style routines.
- Mindful art, music, journalling and craft.
- Mindful cooking, eating and gardening.
- Sleep wind-down routines and body scans.
The wellbeing benefits — backed by research
Decades of clinical trials show mindfulness can help with:
- Anxiety and stress
- Chronic pain
- Insomnia and poor sleep
- Low mood and depression
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Attention and focus
- Job and study burnout
- Improved diabetes control
For NDIS participants, building a regular mindfulness habit can be a genuine capacity-building outcome — improving emotional regulation, reducing reliance on crisis supports and giving you tools to manage difficult moments at home or in the community.
How sessions work
Sessions can be one-on-one or shared with a friend, family member or peer. We start gently, build at your pace, and pair mindfulness with the everyday supports you already receive — including social support, community access and individual support.
Our core work is done by support workers. They will support people with mild to complex conditions every day to help them achieve their goals and live independently. Our clients’ lives are important to us. We offer our support workers a broad range of training to ensure they are able to deliver exceptional services and have the core skills necessary for success. Gaia Care Disability Support Services Pty Ltd is a supportive, professional team that is committed to continuous improvement and self-development. We strive for a healthy work-life balance in order to provide the best NDIS disability support services possible to our clients.
